Position Overview:
The Information Technology Manager is responsible for the overall planning, organizing, and execution of all IT functions at the location. This includes directing all IT operations to meet customer requirements as well as the support and maintenance of existing applications and development of new technical solutions. This is a hands on technical position.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Analyzes complex business needs presented by the user community and/or clients and recommends technical solutions.
- Produces detailed time line for each application release and implements effective project control by monitoring the progress of the software release and reporting the status.
- Reviews all designs, code and unit test plans where applicable.
- Approves all business requirements prior to the technical solution.
- Participates in all hardware and software evaluations and maintains vendor contracts.
- Oversees Security, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery management and execution at site.
- Represents the IT function at customer review meeting when appropriate.
- Performs liaison duties between users, operations, and programming personnel in the areas of systems design, modifications or troubleshooting.
- Directs and prioritizes the work load of IT staff at site.
- Manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the training, performance management, salary administration, and hiring of employees and consultants within that department.
- Creates and manages department budget.
- Travel is required, primarily in West Africa and one visit to the United States.
- Long hours and weekend work frequently required. This positon is on-call availability
Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in computer science or related field or related experience.
- Systems Administration /System Engineer Certificates are preferred.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of experience within information technology.
- Demonstrated competencies in the following areas: technical capability, business acumen, strategic thinking, customer/client focus, and leadership.
- Experience in the most current technologies and products used in the industries.
- Superior Knowledge of Windows Server 2008 & 2012 and Microsoft Office 365 administration.
- Good Knowledge of Database management, such as MSSQL.
- Ability to effectively work on a team in a complex, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to live in Sierra Leone full-time required.
