Partners In Health (PIH) , a nonprofit organization headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, is currently accepting applications from qualified candidates for a UNITAID-funded project, “Expand New Drug Markets for TB” ( endTB for short). endTB will treat patients w ith novel TB drugs and regimens.

General Responsibilities:
The Accountant will be a valuable member of the PIH Accounting team in assisting in recording daily transactions as well as the monthly and annual close processes. She/he will be responsible for a variety of duties including recording and tracking daily cash expenditures, the completion of monthly G/L account and bank reconciliations, preparation of journal entries for a variety of transactions, and a daily review of cash balances to provide management with data needed to monitor cash flow.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Process payments, run checks weekly, prepare ledger entries and mail checks, ensuring all payables are remitted timely. Handle and follow up on all incoming calls or written requests from vendors; maintain filing system and track invoices on request. Process requests for miscellaneous invoice billings.
- Maintain and log all project expenditures . Ensure all receipts and documentation are clear, reasonable and approved by the project or finance manager.
- Monitor cash flow of project to ensure adequate fund balance to run the project.
- Organize files and prepare records for archiving.
- Prepare payroll for employees.
- Write checks; conduct bank transactions.
- Complete balance sheet account reconciliations on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis.
- Assist with internal and external audits.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by Finance Manager or Program Manager .
- Immediately report to the Finance Manager or Program Manager any problems, issues or concerns regarding the integrity of site financial reports .
- Provide any financial report that may be requested for specific financial activities .
- Maintain confidentiality of all accounting information or accounting activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, or related.
- A minimum of five years of relevant accounting or auditing experience.
- Spoken and written fluency in English and Amharic .
- Demonstrated ability to prepare journal entries and bank reconciliations independently.
- Evidence of strong computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word required.
- Demonstrated p roficiency wit h automated accounting systems.
- Prior experience with fund accounting in a n international non-profit organization is preferred.
- The successful candidate will be conscientious and will be driven by process improvement and delivery of a quality product as evidenced by prior work and education experience.
